My name is Mitchell Diederich, and this is my piece of art I am half way done sculpting. I have titled this piece My Golf Club. The idea of a golf club came to me while I was searching online for what I could create. The Studio Habit of Mind I used with this project is I solve problems. The reason I chose this studio habit of mind is because I didn’t want my golf club to be straight down. First, I cut the tube down the middle the long way and rolled it to the right width I needed. This is so it looked like it dropped levels. Then for the head of the golf club, I took part of an egg carton coated the inside with glue and then paper mached around it. The element of art I used is form because the form of the golf club is unique cause it goes down in layers. Some terms that describe this golf club that I made are rough, and shiny, Rough, because after I paper mached it the club became a rough texture. Shiny, because I used acrylic paint so the paint wouldn’t wear off and it is shiny to make it look more like a golf club. In the making of this artwork I learned that there are many different ways to solve problems and that putting paper in something hollow reinforces it and that paper mache makes it stronger.
